H13’s combined low/high design packs a lot into one compact housing — which is exactly the problem when you’re also trying to manage LED heat. There’s less room around the chip for heat to escape than in a typical single-beam bulb, which makes cooling design the single biggest factor separating an H13 LED bulb that … Read more
Most headlight bulbs are single-purpose — one for low beam, one for high beam, wired and swapped separately. H13 does both from a single base, switching between filaments (or, on the LED version, between chip circuits) depending on which beam you’ve selected. It’s a compact, one-socket solution, which is exactly why you’ll find it all … Read more
Headlight technology has a genuinely interesting history, and knowing it makes the current choices make a lot more sense than jumping straight into a spec sheet. How we got from oil lamps to lasers Early cars didn’t have dedicated headlights at all — drivers borrowed oil lamps straight off horse-drawn carriages, which did almost nothing … Read more
You can buy an excellent LED bulb, install it in a housing that’s perfectly suited to it, and still end up with a beam full of dark patches and stray glare — all because the bulb went in rotated the wrong way. It’s the single most common installation mistake, and it’s easy to make because … Read more
Ask five people why 3000K headlights are supposedly better in fog than 6000K ones, and you’ll get some version of “the warm light cuts through better.” It’s one of the most repeated claims in automotive lighting — and it’s built on physics that doesn’t actually apply to fog. The interesting part is that the underlying … Read more
Swapping halogen bulbs for LEDs is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make to your headlights — but “cheap” and “quick” only holds true if your headlight housing is actually built for it, and if you get the orientation right. Get either of those wrong and you’ll end up with a headlight that’s technically … Read more
